Thanks for sending this Mark.

It's fascinating to see a peak into the reality behind the myth and often the sensationalism that accompanied the stories.

Mark - thank you so much for sharing this - truly fascinating!

I find it interesting that this Oracle seemed to represent good conscience, but needed to exist outside of how things were run. So, a political state may be all for blood and war and conquest... yet this Oracle that ran so much of society, existed outside of this structure.

I love how the Oracle would give these more vague responses... and yet people would always interpret them to their own benefit. I can only assume that a long listing of Oracle answers does not exist. It would be great to dig into the "long tail" data... what the Oracle said about that woman's son getting married, and all of the lesser predictions it had made...

Also... how rare is it in history that older women were given so much power in society, for such an extended period of time? Now that our country seems to be mired in the "question" of the electability of a woman as president... it seems especially relevant.
Thanks.

Thanks so much Mark – we benefit greatly from your sleeplessness. It is incredible that the oracles lasted so long- but I guess their philosophy may have been a reason for that – espousing moderation, know thyself don’t seem to controversial – although they do sound a lot like my mother – perhaps the Oracle lives on in her…;)
